There are other topics on this but none seem to be like the problem I am getting.

About a week ago I kept getting Random Blue Screen. ones like ClockWatchdogTimeout or something like that. I assumed it was because I had my CPU overclocked. So I took it off but the blue screens continued. and turned out it had something to do with drivers that I had installed. So i decided to try to reinstall windows..

But the problem is is that every time I try to install windows 10 i get so many different blue screens. sometimes IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL or 0xc00021a or even memory management errors.. I am able to get into my bios and can look at all my hardware and everything is working properly. I even tried taking out one ram stick and tried installing then switching them.. and still nothing. Ive seen other threads with people saying to use your USB bootable hard drive to get into a repair mode, but I cant even do that because the windows logo pops up then it goes to a random blue screen.. I even tried unplugging all my hard drives and just see what happens. but somehow I still get a blue screen. I also tried making a new bootable windows 10 USB and still the problems continue..

Specs of my computer

MSI Z170a X-Power Titanium Edition
Intel 6700k
Corsair DDR4 2133 (2x8) 16 Gb total
Samsung 850 evo 250gig
EVGA 1000 wat G2

No graphics card yet. waiting for the evga 1080 hybrid. but whats the point if I cant even get my computer working...

Please Help!!
Thank you for anyone that does

Hello, yes I did resolve the issue. But I had to rma my motherboard 2 times and then I finally got a new one, and at the same time of getting a new motherboard I decided to get a new cpu so I called Intel and they sent me a brand new cpu once I sent back my old one. Now everything works prefect.

i don't understand how you get a BSOD with all the drives disconnected (did that include the ssd?) as there shouldn't be any windows then to boot, nothing should have happened.
Clock Watchdog timeout can be drivers or CPU. Given you were overclocked when it happened and it hasn't had same error since, I would think that was a good solution.

does random blue screen look like this: http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/2294-advanced-startup-options-boot-windows-10-a.html

Did you use the USB originally to install win 10? I only ask as some new motherboards fight against you to boot from USB

try running http://www.memtest86.com/ on your ram and see if its ok (one stick at a time).

See if there is a newer bios available, it could help

Thanks for getting back to me. I decided to make a quick video to show what was going on..

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j-uym-x6QDI

I also tried using different ram sticks and that didnt help.. I also plugged in just my 2tb hard drive to try to install windows on that, and still no luck. It cant be the CPU because the temps are just normal.. around 30 degrees because of the water cooler..

I got this new error that is 0xc0000001 and the screen is all blue and it says your computer didnt start properly. that is with my SSD plugged into my motherboard and nothing else.

But i will try memtest next..

that error just repeats what is obvious, it says its unable to boot.

in your boot order, is there such a choice as UEFI USB instead of USB? I don't think its going anywhere near the USB, all your boots on the video showed it going into windows or trying and freezing. Are you pressing enter to boot from the USB at start as if you don't it will go to ssd (this might not apply as it could just be old bios that need you to hit key within 5 seconds)

nice looking case, jealous of 2 screens :)

you need to stop all overclocking, and run memtest86 on its own boot image to confirm your memory timings.
if you installed windows while overclocking or with memory problems (or from a certain USB 3 ports) the install may be corrupted.

the error code 0xc00021a is common with bad memory timings.
the error code 0xc0000001 if it comes from a USB port means a CRC error otherwise it just means that some operation was unsuccessful.

I would make sure that I plug the drive into a SATA port on the primary controller ,the one supported directly by the CPU it will often be the slower controller but it will have better drivers during the windows install. after the system is up, you then update the motherboard drivers and shutdown and move the port to the faster SATA controller.

(this assumes you are using stata and not USB to access your drive which would have different issues)

Hello,

I did everything you said but now the white dots spin for a little and then freezes and displays blue screens that state this

system service exception
bad pool caller
system thread exception not handled
unexpected kernel mode trap
resource not owned.. I got this one only once
driver overran stack buffer

But then after letting it sit, i eventually get into the installing screen and everything works. I was able to install windows on it but then once it does that first reset the blue screens come back. I tried changing the boot order with the ssd first as well and still get those blue screens.

I accidentally pressed the best solution button. But i did everything you said and still wont work. I keep getting blue screens still. even if i unplug all my hard drives and just boot from the usb.. the most common blue screen now is the bad pool caller one..

Im not sure if this is possible, but is there a way to take the ssd out and install windows on it with my laptop and put the ssd back? would it then boot from the ssd normally.

That won't work as win 10 registers itself to the motherboard its installed on.

I fixed the best post thing. I have to go but will see if I can help later :)

I ran memtest and everything passed so I know thats not the problem but I decided to try to install Ubuntu. I am able to run it off of the usb.. but when I try to install it it ends up crashing and says error, and that I can send a message to Ubuntu for assistance. I'm beginning to think it is the ssd but im still not sure. I need to get another hard drive to test it..

Here are some of the ubuntu errors I get. Im not sure if they have anything to do with the problems I am facing.

http://imageshack.com/a/img924/9761/EF5Anq.jpg

But I did notice that If i try to save say a word document on ubuntu, I can see my SSD as you can see in the picture..

http://imageshack.com/a/img922/1350/UtSACD.jpg

And when I try to save I get an error.. But I am able to save the doctument to the desktop on ubuntu

And here is something that pops up once in awhile if ubuntu doesnt boot properly.. i just sits on this screen. Im not sure if it means anything..

can you access and copy files off ssd using ubuntu? Is there anything you want to save? I would suggest doing so and then formatting the ssd so its blank and then see what happens when you try to install win 10.

I suspect if Ubuntu and Win 10 have boot problems, its the hardware causing the issue. Not the software.

If its a hardware then why did memtest pass everything. That's why I'm so confused.. But when I try to delete anything on any of my drives while on ubuntu, Ubuntu crashes and resets. I read online that sometimes a virus can infect a hard drive and change something in the bios.. But I don't know what I can do to fix that..

I'm about to take my PC to Microsoft HQ and have them look at it because I ran out of solutions.. They're actually right down the street from me hopefully they'll help me out.

Thank you for the quick response . I am going to do the same. Microsoft should be responsible for the time and grief they caused. But they will claim that the hardware was bad and not their software corrupting are hardware!!!
