Dvi-D to Vga Adapter Problem

My graphics card is a Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600 . I wanted to have dual monitor screens . my graphics hard has a normal vga input then theres a output vga next to it. above it is a DVI-D port with 24 specs.So i bout an dvi-d adapter to a vga (http://www.ebay.com/itm/DVI-D-24-1-Dual-Link-Male-to-VGA-HD15-Female-Adapter-Converter-for-PC-Laptop-/111292825862?hash=item19e991c106:g:vPcAAOSwstxVLFcE) i already have one of my monitors working with the exput vga. When i plug in my adapter into the DVI-D spot then connect the vga to the back it doesnt pop up on my other monitor.

the 4 missing pins around the flat tab are... well, missing. those are what separates a DVI-D (digital ONLY) from a DVI-I (digital AND vga)

DIV-D id a digital output if your trying to connect it to a analog monitor thru an adapter it takes a special type of adapter to make it work.

That adapter will not work. Passive DVI-D to VGA adapters only work on very few devices. You need an active DVI-D to VGA converter such as this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812400402
