Deciding between 2 x99 motherboards (old vs new)

So I have narrowed my motherboard decision down to these 2 choices.

-ASUS X99 Rampage Extreme/U3.1 LGA 2011-V3 eATX Intel Motherboard

-ASUS ROG X99 Strix Gaming LGA 2011 Intel ATX Motherboard with USB 3.1 Type-C

Because of a promotion I got these boards are around the same price, only $30 difference. So therefore I was hoping for some advice on which motherboard is the best choice based on quality alone. The Rampage is older by a 1-2 years but it is a higher end moba. Thank you very much!

It's not close. The extreme is far better. Get it, you know you want to.

Haha well I do wanna. But if possible, could you explain a bit why it is far better?

The extreme has better components (chokes, capacitors, etc) and a much better feature set including watercooling the board (way cooler than it sounds). Give it a bios update and don't look back.

Make sure that the eATX board will fit in your case.

Both are very good - check specs of both and see if one or the other has a feature or features you want vs the other model, that may be the deciding factor, i.e. the Extreme having a WC block, this originated in past versions of the Formula line of mobos, which were seldom used, so might be paying a premium for something you won't even use
