Dell Monitor 1909W Smells Like Plastic Burning!

Solution
New electronics frequently give off that odor when new as many components are coated with a thin layer of anti-corrosive from the raw material factories or sub-assembly process.

If it persists for more than a week or so (and it should diminish over time), then I would RMA it. It is possible, of course, that it's something else......but this isn't atypical for new electronics for a short time.
