Hi,
I need DirectX 11 to run many of the games I play. However, no matter how many times I try I can't seem to be able to update it using Windows Update like the Microsoft Website says. I've looked around for a download link but all it says is to use Windows Update. All of my drivers are up to date but I just don't know what the problem is. Any help appreciated. Thanks!

Solution
Hmm, there are no drivers for that Q35 express chipset on win 10, there aren't even any win 8 drivers, you might have been better off staying on Win 7. Not that helps play games.

This shows CPU has no IGPU, I have to assume its on your motherboard: http://www.cpu-world.com/Compare/686/Intel_Core_2_Quad_Q8200_vs_Intel_Core_i5_i5-2500K.html

trying to play Far Cry 4 on an 9 year old graphics chipset is why it won't work. The cards that are recommended for upgrades for this board are themselves old now. Only way you going to play the games you want to play now is by getting a new pc.

Are you using an Asus card? You might have it already

It is ASUS utility that comes with the ASUS card along with ASUS Smart Doctor (over clocking / monitoring app). The Gamer OSD (on screen display) is for monitoring framerates, etc while playing a game for benchmarking. So uses an overlay over primary display window to display data. This appears to use the driver that is DX11 incompatable which locked DDI to 9Ex. Smart Doctor still works no problem.

I assume this is correct as all I know is that once the app and driver were uninstalled the problem went away. If other manufacturers are bundling these type of utilities then that is where I would start if I had this problem (which I now don't after much googling and reinstalling of drivers).

Win 10 comes with DX 12 so it already has the latest version of DX

Does it stop you playing the games? The 9Ex problem has been around since Vista: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/939998 and Microsoft said to ignore it back then too. its an error in the way DXDIag works. Clearly not important enough to fix though.

I guess I should have included the Display section of DXDiag so here it is:
Card name: Intel(R) Q35 Express Chipset Family (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM 1.0)
Manufacturer: Intel Corporation
Chip type: Intel(R) GMA 3100
DAC type: Internal
Device Type: Full Device
Device Key: Enum\PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_29B2&SUBSYS_4F4A8086&REV_02
Display Memory: 256 MB
Dedicated Memory: 0 MB
Shared Memory: 256 MB
Current Mode: 1920 x 1080 (32 bit) (60Hz)
Monitor Name: HP Pavilion 22cw IPS LED Backlit Monitor
Monitor Model: HP 22cwa
Monitor Id: HWP3184
Native Mode: 1920 x 1080(p) (60.000Hz)
Output Type: HD15
Driver Name: igdumd64.dll,igdumd32
Driver File Version: 8.14.0010.2697 (English)
Driver Version: 8.15.10.2697
DDI Version: 9Ex
So no, I do not have an ASUS card but an Intel one. It does stop me from playing games such as Far Cry 4 but I don't know if that is an issue with my graphics card or processor. Limbo and CS:GO also don't work because of a Shader Model 3.0 error.

That is pretty impressive given the CPU doesn't have integrated graphics. The spoiler is the same as your first one. You need to scroll down a little into text file :)

Display looks something like this but I didn't add all the details, some aren't handy
