Hi guys,

Im planning on building a new gaming PC for myself. Some background info for selection of parts is basically that i plan to max out a few simple games like Dota 2 or CSGO. I dont have plans for OCing but i will take this into consideration. That being said, i am undecided on a MOBO but i plan on either buying an i5-6500 or i5-6600.

My current parts list are:
GPU - MSI R9 Radeon 390x Gaming/ AMD Radeon RX 480 (releaseing soon i believe)
CPU - i5 6500/6600
Cooler - CM Hyper 212x
RAM - G. Skills Ripjaw Series V
Storage - Samsung 850 EVO 120GB
PSU - Evga Supernova 650W GS/G2
MOBO - ???

Any suggestions are welcome, i am trying to find a Mobo ~$150.

Thanks guys

first things first...if u r considering OCing then those two cpu cannot OC...u need to go with the unlocked(K) versions of the cpu...best one wud be i5-6600k...
u can check out the below link...i just built this for one of my friends and its running all guns blazing...
for the motherboard, u can keep the one selected...or delete it and then click on "Choose a Motherboard"...it will give u a list of all compatible mobos...make sure u choose one with gud reviews...cheers...

I don't plan on OCing so I suggested the non-k versions of the cpu. The Mobo you suggested is for OCing compared to the h170 series with LGA1151 socket. I'm more inclined to a non-k version. But I was unsure whether the 6500 or 6600 would affect fps and overall gaming experience.

no, they wont affect ur fps or gaming experiencing as long as u pair a gud card along with it...
and if u dont intend to OC, then u can go with any board other than the z170...

Maybe it's just me, but I find Hellfire's posts extremely difficult to understand.

If you don't intend to overclock, there's no need to buy a cooler. At stock speeds, your i5 will run very happily with the included heatsink.

$150 is far more than you need to spend on a motherboard. Some thoughts:

H110 chipset - two RAM slots and one PCIe 16x slot, basic functionality, no less reliable than more expensive boards, should be in the range of $50-65

H170 chipset - four RAM slots, multiple PCIe 16x slots, will have more USB and SATA ports and support for RAID, should be in the range of $70-100.

Z170 chipset - allows for use of faster RAM for a very small performance increase, enables overclocking if you buy a more expensive "K" CPU, $100+

I tend to like having open RAM slots for future upgrades, but if there's nothing in the more expensive board that you want, you could really go with something like this and have a fast and reliable PC:

This one includes WiFI for a few dollars more:

If you want the extra slots, this would be a good choice:

So the H110 series should be fine with the GPU I plan on running?

And do the brands vary much beside slots. I'm thinking more reliability. Have never really tried Asrock before. Mostly been using msi

You'll find varying opinions, but generally Asus, MSI, ASRock and Gigabyte are well-regarded. ASRock used to be a division of Asus that broke off to make their own boards, and I've had a great experience with them.

EDIT: There are differences in construction, but for the most part it's invisible to the end-user. MSI boards used to have the lowest power consumption for whatever reason, but I don't think that applies anymore. You might want to look up some reviews and see what patterns emerge.

asus is generally more popular for its market share all around...but when u use it real time, theres not much of a difference that u ll feel other than inherent features ofcourse...which can vary here or there...
H110 is a scaled down version of H170...but u shd be gud if u dont need the extra features...check out the link i had posted above for a head to head comparison of the boards...
