So I've got a budget gaming PC built a couple of years ago, and my current Sapphire HD 7770 is pretty much screwed.

The question is, will my system work well with a GTX 950 ? (bottlenecks and stuff) and is it a decent upgrade from what I have.

Specs :

A10 5800K
HD 7770
8 Gigs of 1600 ram
500w PSU
Asrock A75 Pro4-m (mobo)

Going to be using it with my 1080p monitor.

Thanks.

Sorry forgot to mention that,

500w PSU and an Asrock A75 Pro4-m mobo (the xfast 555 something one)

The mobo is okay, the PSU I wonder what make and model is it? 500W should be ok but I wouldn't trust a generic brand, if you can find the GPU model which doesn't need the extra 6 pin connector better, it means less power needed.

At this point, assuming you can afford the extra $40 and can wait a few days, I'd go with a 4GB Radeon RX 480 instead. Like this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150771. It's nearly twice as powerful for not much more and 2GB is on the verge of being too little RAM.

Yeah I'm aware of the new RX 480 and I can sure afford it, problem is my APU...won't it bottleneck something better than the 950 ?

That depends on the game, it isn't as wide as "this specific CPU will bottleneck this specific GPU", some games are more CPU demanding thus holding back GPU to deliver it's full potential. I think your CPU is okey and you can go with the 960, you can just disable CPU specific settings and you should fine really.

I see, what a turn of events, I was positive my APU can't handle anything above the 950...now...the question is, what's better, the new RX 480 or the gtx 960 ? :O

RX 480 is better, but DO have in count that the more powerfull GPU you get, then more likely the CPU is going to hold performance back in some games.

Consider this: try to find the best priced card between a GTX970 and a RX480, if eventually your CPU is too slow to pair with the GPU you can use it for a future upgrade.

Pd: most people will say that your CPU will bottleneck any GPU above a 750TI or GTX950 but I've seen and build myself lots of computers with poor CPU performing really good with cheap-old AMD CPUs.

I see, thanks for the help It's really appreciated! I'm gonna think this through and find the best option. At least now I know things are a bit different.
Thanks again!
