I'll be connecting a cable to a 1440p 144Hz monitor, and another to a 75Hz 1080p monitor. I heard DVI-D is the best but the card only supports one DVI-D input so am rather clueless of what to do now.

Solution
My R9 290x only supports one DVI-D also, but it also has an HDMI port. So I use both for a dual set up.

if this isn't possible, there are converters that you can pick up to solve the problem and allow you to have two DVI-D ports.

Any modern gpu can use 3 or more, any port. Dvi is far from best. Dp has been king for many years and hdmi 2.0 surpassed dvi since the 900 series came out with it. But that's just bandwidth and as far as any other spec, it's all the same in most situations.
