I'm building my first PC over the summer, and am happy with the amount of info available to guide me through the build. However, I don't know what to do once the components are put together. I have read that the first boot will bring me to the BIOS (ASRock as that's my motherboard), but which drivers do I have to install and in which order? When do I install windows? I have a DVD drive in the build - do I install drivers for that too?

Any help would be greatly appreciated - I really am lost from when I turn the thing on until Windows boot up :D

You will install Windows first and let it update.

I usually install my drivers in this order.

1. Display driver
2. Chipset driver
3. Network driver
4. SATA Controller
5. USB drivers
6. Audio Driver

It really don't matter the order, but that's the order I usually install mine. You should also download the latest drivers from your motherboard's website. They will be newer than those on the CD that came with the motherboard. Your DVD drive should work fine without installing any drivers.
After you have installed all the necessary drivers, then proceed to install the programs that you use.
