I thought it was time for an upgrade from FX6350 and Frys was running a bundle onsale for $249. Do you think i'll see improvements for gaming, BF4, FPS and FPS MP, its going to be paired with a GTX 960 4gb with a 620 PSW for the time being which I have running on my system now.

This would be my first Intel in over 15 years mainly due to budget constraints.

It's by no means a necessity. But the benchmarks, forums point to yes....or should I wait a few months when Battlefield One Specs are released. I'll add Ram and SSD which is another $200-$225...Is it a good investment?

Yes I think you will see an improvement, and yes that is a good deal. You are getting the motherboard for like $25-30. As for waiting that is entirely up to you if you are happy with what you have and money is a concern for you then maybe you should wait for a time when spending $400-600 isn't going to make you regret it.

I guess it's always a difficult decision to make, I guess I'll also look at upgradability of the MB for future CPU upgrades as well to deflect possibility of MB replacement.. I was looking at Tom's CPU hierarchy of CPU's and many other threads and based on many suggestions it's the way to go considering FX's out in 2012 and the Skylake in 2015, I think...

That's what I thought a MB for that price with the CPU...why not. I returned a 8350 (that was $170.00)the other day after comparing the benchmarks for 6350 and 8350 and they were nearly identical. I figure $100 more for longevity. So I guess this will be the start of a 15year run with Intel...

Yes another $100 for RAM and maybe $100 for SSD but I never got around to an OC I stopped playing BF4 a year ago, I was using it as a reference, I went back to SP FPS but noticed I had to lower some of my settings. I was going to OC yesterday until I saw the Frys ad, but now I will OC as my secondary PC. I think turning off turbo and bring it to around 4.5GHZ. Some people have left turbo on and others off, so if I leave it off the CPU speed should be constant without surges in GHZ?
