With the ever shrinking size and power requirements of modern tech, it would be awesome to see the release of low profile/half height graphics cards utilizing current generation architectures so we could cram all of that power in to a tiny place. A gtx 750 ti is currently about the best card you can get in that form factor, and while it really is quite a beast of a card, it is starting to show its age.

I think there is something to be said about the size of cases as well. I am biased towards small cases and do not care for huge ATX builds. Anything larger than a Corsair Air 240 is overkill in my opinion, unless you are building a workstation or giant NAS. No SLI or Crossfire for this guy... I recently saw an offering from Silverstone. A tiny 7 liter case that allows for the use of dual slot, low profile graphics card: http://silverstonetek.com/product.php?pid=568&area=en Sharp looking case and also easily portable. I am seriously considering building a HTPC/Gaming PC into one with an i5 6500 or i3 6100 paired with a Gigabyte or MSI GTX 750 ti low profile card. It would make a fairly competent gaming PC as well as an extremely overachieving HTPC that would easily fit in a backpack but also look good sitting on my desk or by my television.

I guess all I am getting at is if a manufacturer decided to offer a tiny card with modern architecture, they could easily take my money. I am not sure if I am the only person who feels this way or not. Maybe I have some strange form of OCD. Either way I am curious to hear what others think.

There's the 950 which has a rare low profile version but the issue is heat and since they never released anything below the 950 which is 90w tdp, there is nothing to replace the 750ti as the best low profile card. Amd cards are higher power for similar performance. The 1050 might be the replacement but I suspect even a 1040 would be better performance. We'll see when they come out soon.

You can actually find small cases that which fit full sized cards. There's not many but they are out there and significantly increase your gpu selection. A4-SFX is similar 7.25L although limited supply. Otherwise most other I know of are double near 14L. That's still half the size of a normal mid tower.

Then there's also lots of cube cases and those are easy to find.
