144 Hz 1080p vs 60 Hz 1440p display

I'm having difficulty deciding between a 144 Hz 1080p (1 ms) monitor and a 60 Hz 1440p (5 ms IPS) monitor at a similar price. Gaming would be a major use, but I mainly play cRPGs and strategy games, with relatively few FPS tiles, so I'm not sure whether reduced tearing and whatnot from 144 Hz refresh rate would actually be noticeable.
