Hello everyone, while Nvidia priced their own founder edition cards more than the custom cards it seems that all other manufactures selling their cards the same price as the founder edition if not more!

Now i'm waiting for the 1060 which should be sold for $250 for the custom cards but it seems that won't be the case as with the 1080 and 1070!

Now what do you think about that?

Everything's sold out just about everywhere, so retailers are jacking prices up. It's pretty safe to say that things will be exactly the same with the 1060. [Speculation here] It seems Nvidia are rushing the 1060 release to respond to the RX 480, plus mid range card is likely to sell in higher volume, so very likely that stock will be every bit as limited if not more so with the 1060 [end speculation].

Prices will for sure drop once Nvidia can actually meet demand and stock levels increase. Whether cards every actually drop to the MSRP will be interesting to see. Who knows. My guess is that it'll be quite some time before we see a 1060 for $250, but how long is anyone's guess.

So the RX 480 would seem a better deal as it's already available for $250 for 8 GB model, despite the 1060 seems to be a bit faster but for $50 less the 480 seems a better option for performance per dollar wise!

Rumours have the GTX 1060 as equivalent or faster than a 980, which is a decent step up from an RX 480... absolutely need to wait for launch benchmarks to see whether that's actually correct or not, but it might justify it's higher price.

For sure though if you're keen to buy now there's nothing wrong with a 480, particularly if can get a decent price for it. If you want the option of OCing, then waiting for aftermarket cards is pretty much essential. But for stock clocks gaming, the stock card is solid.
