I have some money burning holes in my pockets and would like to upgrade my rig, but after asking couple of my friends about their opinion, the only thing ppl seem to think that I should upgrade is my monitor. I would like to get a freesync monitor, but I'm not sure if I want to do that if I'm going to buy a nvidia card in the (near) future. So I'm now torn between freesync and gsync models. I would like to go from 1080p to 1440p or atleast 1080p ultrawide. I've also been eyeing on HTC Vive, but I'm waiting for the the price to drop a little bit and I don't expect it to happen anytime soon.

I would also like to upgrade to i7 processor, but the chipset on my mobo only supports the first gen of haswell and their prices are about as high as the skylakes at the moment. And people have said it's not worth it as I'm using my machine mainly for gaming.

So any suggestions for a possible upgrade on my rig is highly welcome.

My current setup consists of:

Asus Z87-A mobo
i5-4670K @ 4.3GHz
16GB DDR3 1600Mhz
MSI R9 390 @ 1100/1600
1080p 60hz monitor.
850W PSU
Ducky Shine keyboard + Steelseries Rival mouse.

So in a nutshell

CPU upgrade = not worth it?
GPU upgrade = not worth it?
Monitor upgrade = Unable to choose between freesync and gsync untill I get a new GPU. And 1440p ultrawide is too much for my current GPU(?)
HTC Vive = Little bit too expensive and software not mature enough.
