hello Guys ,

I bought monday the Asus ROG strix gtx 1080 ( Not OC edition , the normal one ) , by default it has 1607 mhz Core clock and 1734 Boosts clock , but actually it boosts up to 1900 i saw it .
But today i decided to do an overclocking to see how much it goes more or less .
I used the MSI afterburner :
i added a +220 mhz to the Core clock and a +250 to the memory clock ( yes i could've gone much higher but im more interesed in core clock ) .i moved the TDP up to 120% linked with 92 C temp.
I tried Furmark at 1920x1200 with 8xmsaa and i did a test for like 5 minutes and it boosted up to 2090 mhz and the max temp was 68 C .
Then i try the
Valley benchmark in 1920x1200 extreme HD and it went on all 18 scenes with the temp hitting 69C and boosted to 2130 mhz.
EDIT : the fan speed did not go above 47%

I DID NOT TOUCH THE VOLTAGE in MSI AFTERBURNER .

Then i added +30 ( so now +250 ) mhz to the core clock and i tried furmark for a few minutes and everything OK .
In Valley benchmark at the 16th scene i got error. it boosted up to 2180 mhz.

My question is :

Is furmark or Valley good for testing ? what setting should i use ?
How can i make sure an overclock is stable ?
I guess that if i move up the voltage , i can go higher on the overclock right ? maybe above 2200 mhz in boost .
What do you think , it's ok the overclock or it's shit ?

Thank you .

They are good enough for initial testing.
But than you need to play your actual games.
For example I had no problem with Heaven and Furmark, but in crysis 3 i had annoying artifacts, so i had to go from 2100 to ~2040-2050 to make it stable.

And forget about 2200. you are not going to reach stable 2200 :)
And there is not much need in such clock.
Actually everything around 2000 is awesome.
