Hey all,

I'm trying to figure out if i can do this. I have custom built PC that has Windows 7 32 bit currently on it. I can't for the life of me get passed the first_boot upgrade error to upgrade to windows 10. I want to put in a brand new hard drive to the PC.

Can i install Windows 10 this way and still use my windows 7 32 bit product key for activation for windows 10 64-bit? The PC will have the same hardware and I'm completely removing the drive that has windows 7 on it.

I don't really want to have to install 7 on the new drive and then upgrade to 10. I just wanted to see if it's doing the clean install of 10 on the new drive, and will be able to use my windows 7 product key on the new hard drive to install wiindows 10 64-bit.

Thanks!

Solution
do you have a 64 bit cpu? if not you cannot install windows 10 64 bit you can run windows 10 32 bit

if you do have a 64 bit cpu then the long steps following

1.download windows 10 32 bit from microsoft
2. upgrade install windows 10 32 bit
3. activate windows 10 32 bit
4. download windows 10 64 bit from microsoft
5. clean install windows 10 64 bit

note you need to back up your files. as when you do the clean install of windows 10 64 bit your hard drive will be erased.
