Connecting 1920x1280p resolution tablet to 1080p display

I am exploring option of buying the Microsoft Surface 3 which has a resolution of 1920x1280p. I have a dell monitor with resolution of 1920x1080.

I presume being Win10, it will have the typical Intel HD graphics options to select displays options such as Clone Displays / Single display.
So if I connect using HDMI or MiniDP to HDMI, what is the resolution I will see on my dell display? Can I set it to either of the two?

W10 is smart. If you Clone, it will display 1080p in both, with black bars on the surface screen. In all other cases, it will use each displays native res.

It should stay at 1080p but you will have Scaling issues you will have to play around with.

The scaling issue looks like an ugly one for sure, if it comes in play. Will try and see how it goes and update here (just ordered it).
