I have an MSI GTX 780 and ASRock z87 Extreme 4 mobo. I have 3 monitors that all work. however, I cannot get all 3 to display at the same time. I have a 4k monitor that is used for gaming connected to the 780 via display port and the other 2 used for web browsing are connected to the mobo via HDMI/DVI. Only the monitor connected to the mobo via HDMI works. I cannot get the 3rd montior to display anything.
can someone help me please?

thanks.

Can't do that, the video card is connected to a 4k monitor. If I connect a 2nd and 3rd monitor to the video card it drops from 4k @ 60Hz to 4k @ 30Hz. It can't power a 4K monitor and the other two. That's why I'm trying to power them using the mobo ports.

anyone have an idea as to how I can run a 4k monitor off the video card and 2 monitors off the mobo. I have one working using HDMI, but the 2nd which is connected by DVI is not coming on.

so an update on this. I never did get the 3rd monitor working. I was just using the 2 for now, a 4k for gaming running off the GPU and a 1080 powered by the mobo. I was playing COD with no issues and shut down normally. when I went to turn on the PC the next day, nothing. No lights, no beeps, nothing. I thought it might be the power supply, but when I shorted the green and black wires the fan started to turn. I think the mobo may be dead and it is currently on it's was back to asrock to be rma'd.

I think I might have figured out the issue. the monitor is 2560x1440, asrock website says mobo max res is 1920x1200. I will get an hdmi - dvi adaptor as that supports up to 4096x2304.
Does anyone know if this would work?

I bought a display port to dvi active adapter and now the third monitor works :)
The problem was the dvi port on the mobo couldn't do 1440, its max resolution is 1920x1200
