I built a new gaming rig.

my specs are:
i5 6600k
gtx 1070 g1 gaming (gigabyte)
8 gb 2400 mhz DDR4
480gb pny ssd
asus z170 mobo

ill refrain from adding anything else but you get the gist. This thing should crank games. The last part I need is a monitor and I am really struggling. I'd probably pay up to 500$ for the right one but it has to be perfect for that sort of money to be dropped. I'm leaning to this basic Acer GN246HL because its only 180$ and gets the refresh rate I want.

I'd like to have a higher refresh rate because I play a lot of rocket league. However, I have considered a 1440p overclockable alternative. These seem more expensive and I've heard the korean monitors don't work well with the 1070. G sync seems all too expensive but also unnecessary for 1080p as the 1070 will most definitely crack 100 fps in most at 1080p.

If anyone has any suggestions I just want the right monitor without regretting dropping top money.

i already bought it. the 480gb ssd was only 100$ while upgrading to a 1080 would be more than 200$ and the benefits of a 1080 vs 1070 especially with the crazy premiums was not worth it. I scored the g1 for 429$

So I am not into FPS unless you include Overwatch which I play on PS4 instead. I might play a little WoW in the future along with the Witcher or other similar games. I just really like rocket league lol and am very close to champion ranking and I think switching to PC from PS4 for less lag and smoother picture will help me go to the next level.

I'd be willing to go to 1440p if I could still get over a 90hz refresh. Even g sync too but then all of a sudden it seems you're in the 700$ range. I originally wanted a 144hz 2560x1080 curved monitor but those don't seem to exist
