Windows Explorer Missing Details

On all of my co-coworkers computers when trying to sort by details in Windows Explorer there are 2 details called "Description", however on my computer I am only seeing one. The problem is that the one that I'm missing is the one that shows the Description tag from our 3D Modeling software. This makes it very hard to sort through folders as each individual file is only a serial number. Would this be something like a registry error?

i don't know if anything in here will help, perhaps you are missing an add on? http://help.solidworks.com/2016/English/EnterprisePDM/FileExplorer/c_Files_and_Folders.htm?id=c370b96df96a48ea94486a10de7cb32d#Pg0&ProductType=&ProductName=

if you have a licenced copy, perhaps ask their support.

I guess you mean File Explorer, if you right click the header and select more.. it only shows one header called description in here but the number of potential headings is pretty big, you might find something in here that does what you desire. It is possible your co-worker's PC have been edited by your IT dept to include necessary headers.

We have no IT department, all of the Windows installs are standard. In all tutorials I've seen for enabling this, there are 2 options for description. Mine is the only computer in the office not showing the second description. I have enabled all of the headers and none of them show what I need, it is only the missing Description detail that I do not have yet I can get it to work on all of my co-workers workstations..

Here is how to change the template views but its no closer to adding custom views. http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/16694/customize-the-five-windows-folder-templates/

What is name of the 3d software? maybe i can find something linked to it,

can you link me a tutorial for doing this?

what version of windows is on the PC's at work? the instructions match win 7 & 8.

It seems some tags no longer work in the 2015 version: https://forum.solidworks.com/thread/96815

SOLIDWORKS did not start supporting Win7 until 2010 SP1, and was never supported on SolidWorks 2009 despite Win7 being launching in the fall of 2009.

If we use that as an example, we could expect SOLIDWORKS 2016 SP1 or so to be the first supporting version for Win10 which normally releases around December/January, so I would hold off.

https://forum.solidworks.com/thread/96470

seems it doesn't support win 10 yet.

It works on all of my co-workers computers, which are running Windows 10. Like I said, it is just my machine that is having this problem. I've obviously looked on the Solidworks forums before looking elsewhere. I am running SW2016 SP03 which is fully supported by Windows 10. No offence, but try to look at relevant links, not something from over a year ago. This is a Windows issue, not Solidworks as it's File Explorer not showing the detail.

Ok, I didn't know what you had done before so I went there and looked.

Even though its seemingly a windows 10 problem I expect Javelin and that forum would know the answer. Can wait and see if anyone else knows a better answer though. Sorry I couldn't help more.

I appreciate the help. Sorry if my response was a little snarky, I've just been trying to re-do my company's file system and this is the last thing that's preventing me from totally changing it over. At this point, I'm ready to just say screw it and deal with it on my machine I'm getting so frustrated by it.
