I have a Windows 7 computer with a SATA 1TB hard drive. It is going bad and I want to replace it with a Sata 3TB HD. I have a restore partition on the old HD that I can use to restore the operating system. I will back up anything else I need off of the old HD. After the Windows 7 OS is restored to the new HD, I will take advantage of the free update to Windows 10. This computer will then be used as a "second" computer for my Grand children when they are here.

I do not have any extra power or data cables, so would it be possible to use the cables from the CD-Rom temporarily to connect the new HD? Can I use the restore partition to restore Window 7 OS to a different HD?
