So I got three of the Samsung sm961 256GB M.2 drives today. I thought I would have some fun seeing what numbers I could come up with in single, Dual Raid 0 and Triple Raid 0 configurations. They are all on a PCI-e to M.2 card in a PCI-E lane all running at x4 speed on a Rampage Extreme Edition 10 Motherboard.
Overall in day to day activities, one drive seems to be fine on normal activities. If you are doing lots of reads/writes, photo or video editing/rendering, then two seems to be the sweet spot. Adding a third really does seem to bottleneck and even reduce the speed in some cases.
