Same Resolution, Different Refresh Rate?

Aaaaaaaaalllright. So. i just got a display port cable cus reasons, and when i plugged it in i decided to go to the Nvidia control panel just to make sure it was at the right refresh rate and stuff. I Open it up and am greeted with: http://imgur.com/a/JFbUY ok, well let me change that, but whats this, only 60hz is available!? I paid good money for this 144hz monitor! Wait a second, there are more resolutions down below, huh:http://imgur.com/a/LXPs2 another 1920x1080, and this allows me to run it at 144hz...... So, while this doesnt seem to change anything, i must ask, whats the difference? Why can i only run one at 144hz?

Notice how there are two groups of resolutions: "Ultra HD, HD, SD" and "PC". My guess is that nVidia's app (or maybe some display port spec) simply splits resolutions/refresh rates meant for use with TVs from those meant for use with PC monitors. Notice how all the TV resolutions are preceded with "1080p"? I assume that means that all those resolutions are upscaled to 1080p before being output, and likely that 1080p here is being defined as 1080p60, hence why the refresh rate can't be changed from 60Hz.
