Is GTX 1070 Overkill for 1080p 144hz gaming?

Im still debating on a 1060 and a 1070. Im not too worried about the price. If im getting the 1060 i can upgrade my case but the case i have right now isnt so bad.

But can a GTX 1070 run games like GTA 5 or BF4 at 120+ fps at max or high settings? Is a GTX 1070 worth the extra frames?

I will be doing 1080p only and 1024x768 for CSGO.

My CPU is a i5 4690 (Not 4690K.)

The GTX 1070 is overkill for 1080p 60Hz gaming, but is not overkill for 1080p 144Hz gaming. Be aware that on more CPU heavy games like BF4 and GTA V you are likely to be CPU bottlenecked to an extent and may have trouble holding 120+ FPS because of that. To get really high framerates on games like that it does really help to have an overclockable CPU. You'll still get well over 60FPS, but getting 120+FPS solid might not be doable.
