Dual monitors, one is 144hz but it is locked at 120hz

I have a 144hz monitor, and a 60hz monitor, but it locks my 144hz monitor at 120hz. I have no idea why it does this as I have them both in DVI and my graphics card is a Asus Strix GTX 970.
Any help is appreciated as I can't find anything like this on the internet

I'm running a single monitor now at 144hz? idk what you mean but the dvi is putting out 144hz
