Hello all,

I'm currently playing on 720p and have been for 2 years now. i was wondering should i go for a 1080p 144hz set up for around a 1300$ budget or a 1440p 60hz with a 1700& budget. is 1440p at 60hz better than/worth the extra money? I'll be playing games like first person shooters such as: Overwatch, Battlefield 1 & 4, Call of Duty, DOOM, a little CS:GO and some league of legends. I also love to watch YouTube, Streams, and Movies.

Thanks you all in advance! 60hz 1440p or 1080p 144hz gtx 1070

Solution
I personally would rather have a higher resolution monitor over a higher refresh rate.
I consider 1440p to be the sweetspot currently, 4k is not viable with a moderate budget, and 144Hz is a select market.

My friend owns a 144 hz monitor and a 120 hz monitor (Both 1080p) and you can't tell a difference. I would suggest saving more, and buying the 120hz monitor instead (1080 p) and save up the rest for something good :), oh yeah and dont get 60 hz 1440p, you can notice a big difference between 60 - 120hz, its like jumping from 30 fps -> 60 fps. (Well to me) and 120 hz -> 144 hz are visually similar.

either go 1080p 120/144Hz or 1440p 144Hz.
GTX1070 is a great card for that, it will provide the 120/144hz for 1080p and will definitely keep you 60FPS+ on 1440p. but just buy the screen directly to 144hz specially with Gsync and you can SLI later on.
