Hey guys, hopefully this is an easy one.

I am planning a clean install on my PC, currently I am running windows 10, but I had upgraded for free from windows 8 pro, and even that was a paid update from Windows 7.

So my latest physical media is a win 7 dvd, and my latest product key was a win 8 pro product key.

Do I have to download an .iso of the windows 8 pro OS that my key is valid for? Or can I download a latest version of win 10 and use my win 8 key? If so, is there an official Microsoft site to do this from?

Thanks!

follow the steps on this page and link your current activation to email address: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/20530/windows-10-reactivating-after-hardware-change

Download an iso of win 10 from here: win 10 media creation tool and use that to make a USB or DVD

clean install win 10 using that (follow this: http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/1950-windows-10-clean-install.html) and when you reach screen asking for licence, click "skip". and win 10 will install and probably auto activate itself on install.
