Hey guys, thanks for all of the input and stuff this should be the final update to this thread. But my buddy is trying to find a decent build that will work well with WoW as a main game but also having the full 1080p 60 fps run for future games. The budget is 1,000 dollars... and I've put a collaborted build together based on peoples suggestions. Tell me what you think and let me know if it's good. (I'm giving him my old i5-4590)

Created Friend Build:

Secondly, I'll link my build and you guys can give me feedback to wether or not I can swap my processors! It's going from the old i5-4590 to a i5-4690k that I canswap and overclock... Let me know if you guys think I'd be good doing so with the current components I have, because just looking at it on my own it seems fine and compatible.

You didnt add a GPU, your CPU isnt an unlocked one so you dont necessary need a Z97 motherboard. I would get a fully modular PSU, it will save you struggle.

If you do need a GPU, you're good to put basically any single GPU on there.

I do like this build, but was probably looking for a better keybaord/mouse for him. I've just updated my build with some changes to components if you don't mind looking at that one.. tough to get within 1k and have everything you want! hah

Your memory should be in dual channel/2x4gb kit. 120gb ssd is not very useful, and those Kingston ones are not very good, either. The 1060 is far superior to the 960. The 1060 is closer to a 980, performance wise. Better keyboard/mouse can be bought later. A more expensive keyboard/mouse, or case, doesn't make your FPS any better. ;) Not to mention they are all cheaper to upgrade, later, than graphics.

Okay, well I have another question I'm swapping out my i5-4590 for a i5-6600k to over clock on my rig.. What if I gave him that? and then center the build there to get a decent card with the 240gb ssd/500gb hd and 2x4gb memory? I do know the 1060 is superior but this is almost a budget build so I was thinking I could get away with the 960 or like a 480.

So maybe something like this?

Yea, that's kind of what I was thinking also.. Still don't know a ton about MBs like that but I have a spare 4590 and made this build with it if you think it would work well...

I don't see why you are spending as much on a 500gb HDD, as a 1tb drive costs. Otherwise, yes that build would work well, for your friend. Keep in mind, you would need new board, and ram, if you swap to a 6600k, for your rig.

A 1tb HDD? I didn't know they were about the same price and so I could change that as well. But the build I would be swapping the i5-6600k would be the link below....

http://pcpartpicker.com/list/9bBtD3

You think the 6600 or 6600k whatever one it is would be fine in this? Might have to end up building the rig for my friend around that 6600k becuase I don't think all of my stuff is compatible... I don't think I want to buy new components just for a processor yet.

A 6600k, with proper motherboard, ddr4 ram, and cooling, would be compatible with the rest of that. I upgraded from even older hardware, than what you are using. Everything but my CPU, cooling, motherboard, and ram, are from my old 3570k build.

Absolutely. Your spare i5 will give enough cpu power for this build. Nice case, psu, mobo.
Get a 1TB HD and you are good to go!
Your friend will indeed get the "1080p 60 fps run for future games" you was talking about.

Got it all settled and he finally ordered all the parts to be built! Thanks for all the input and help everyone (even though I'm a bit late on this thread update hah) it was fun and he is really enjoying it!
