Windows 10 Start Menu Issue

So, I have Windows 10 on my desktop computer, as well as my tablet/transformer.
Both Start Menus were pretty similar in layout, and I was happy.
It seems that with the Windows 10 Anniversary update (or right around then) my desktop Start Menu changed, and now the 'All Apps' is no longer a button, and has become the full expanded alphabetical list. I can not seem to get it back to a button and back into the left list. At the same time, the left list collapsed from worded shortcuts to just buttons. I know I can expand that back with the very top left button, but it doesn't stay, and the App list still remains under it.

Help please

That's a feature of the anniversary update. As far as I know, you can't configure 1607 to look like 1511. If you want them to match, the best thing to do is to upgrade your laptop as well...
You may be well right weilin, I am v1607 on the desktop, and 1511 on the tablet.
Wonder why the tablet didn't do the Anniversary update, and sure hope a patch/update comes out to allow me to tweak the menu look back.. it's fugly !
Can anyone else confirm that there's nothing I can do?

You could use http://www.classicshell.net/ but it makes the entire start menu look like win 7, as some people like that. Otherwise I think you stuck with way it looks.

tablet will get Anniversary update, they have a lot of computers to upgrade and seem to be taking their time. I got it on PC last Thursday yet another PC in house can't get it yet.
