Hey guys,

so first what i did: I went into the bios to change the wake-on-lan option and saw the update bios button (the pc worked fine before). Me who didn't know you shouldn't update if there's no problem thought "newer is better" and pressed it. It downoaded the new bios softare, installed it and restarted. But after the restart the screen was just black and after i waited a few minutes i turned the pc of manually. After that every time i turned the pc on the fans started pinning and it looked like it turned on but the monitor woudnt get a signal. Because the keyboard doesn't turn on i figured the pc doesn't even boot up.
I tried removing the battery on the mainboard ( after removing the power plug ) and even waited over an hour before putting it back in.
Now i found this https://www.technibble.com/how-to-recover-from-a-bad-bios-update/ instruction to install an new bios version over usb without needing to boot, which sounds like it could solve my problem, but i don't know if my mainboard i able to performe that task.
I have the ASRock H170A-X1/3.1 which i think is intel based an so (after what the website says) should allow this ? In the usermanuall (http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/H170A-X13.1/?cat=Manual) i couldn't find the answer and that is why i am asking you

try this, remove your Power cord and remove your Ram sticks, then reset the bios on the jumper. use a white rubber and clean the ram sticks contacts then insert them on the motherboard again.
plug the power cable and see if it works
if not do this:
Clearing the CMOS;
Then before you power the pc on put the newest bios file on a USB stick and plug it into the mb. (the file must be in the root directory of the USB stick)
If your lucky the bios may recover itself. Before you try again make sure you have the right bios file for the right motherboard

this will clean the ram sticks contacts, do in both sides.
you shoud have a Cmos reset jumper in your motherboard, just see in the owners manual where is located, but usually is marked on the motherboard

so you mean i should do the reset with putting the jumper into position 2-3 ?

remove the power cord from the PSU, and press the power button some times.
Then put the jumper on positio 2-3 and wait a few minutes.
Then put the jumper on the original position, plug the power cord an power up the system.

i did it (and it's still not working) but i am not sure if i did it right. So i created a bootable usb drive with HP_USB_Disk_Storage_Format_Tool v2.2.3 and copyed the one .exe file i extracted out of the DOS download from http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/H170A-X13.1/?cat=Download&os=BIOS into it. I put it into the pc an started it, waited 10 minutes and turned it off again. After i removed the usb stick and turned the pc back on again it still had the same problem

the only thing you have to do is this:
Format the USB in NTFS then download the Instant Flash, and extract the file inside the zip to the usb stick.
then plug it to the pc, turn on the pc, and see if recovers the bios

that article may work for a 10 year old pc, but not for modern UEFI ones.
If the motherboard is still in warranty you may get a new one from RMA or they recover the BIOS for you
