Hello guys, I am looking for a 4k gaming screen for my new pc

specs are i7 6700k, 32 gb ram (if it matters) and gtx 1070 g1 version with the following outputs
Dual-link DVI-D *1
HDMI-2.0b*1 (Max Resolution: 4096x2160 @60 Hz)
Display Port-1.4 *3 (Max Resolution: 7680x4320 @60 Hz)

I have found 2 low cost monitors and wanted to get feedback on which would be better or if i should consider a different one, I want size to be 24 or 28 inch I would prefer the 27/8 inch though..

I found the Asus pb287q vs Samsung U28D590D.

I am not that much into fps hardcore games more into like story and graphics rich games (rise of the tomb raider/JC3 for example). In addition to MMO's (Blade and Soul) and MOBA's (Dota 2) also will be used 30-50% of the time for watching movies/shows etc.

Considering even a single 1080 struggles with 4k, I would recommend getting a 1440p instead of a 4k. The 1070 though runs perfectly with a 1440p monitor. Running a 1070 with a 4k monitor and you will have to tone down all settings on games for it to run at an acceptable speed. Running any game at 20 fps is terrible.

If you stick between those two I would opt for the samsung, it has a bit more features compared to the Asus. But either monitor will be good.

1. Right now 4k can't do 120Hz so the gaming industry is pretty much ignoring 4k.

2. No cable exists that can carry the bandwidth for 4k at 120 Hz ... both I expect to arrive around 1Q 2017 and their arrival will make all existing 4 k gaming monitors obsolete.

3. At this point in time, scaling on the 1080 is only 50% at 4k.

4. 1440p, 165 Hz, IPS, 3ms combined lag is where gaming is at right now. I wouldn't buy 4k until a) Acer and Asus release their new 4k, 120 Hz monitors, b) The 1080 Ti arrives and c) SLI gets fixed.

Well all of my stuff are still in the box since I am waiting on more parts to arrive, I thought i would be able to play games with 4k resolution as I have checked some videos/threads they'd be running around 35-40 fps on ultra which I thought is acceptable

So maybe i should be looking for a lower resolution monitor for gaming?

With 1440p you would get much better performance, solid 60 fps and ultra settings on all games. It would be a better gaming experience.

for best performance you will need to sli the 1070s to achieve the 60fps I have a pb287 4k monitor a 4790 processor 32 gigs of ram with 2 gtx G1 1070s in sli and I get 60 fps on aaa titles if I push them for more fps I have to turn the settings down a bit and I get over 100 fps with ease
