I am running Windows 10 (64-bit) on a Intel Core i7-6700 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor and a Asus H170 PRO GAMING ATX LGA1151 Motherboard. However on the support CD for the motherboard, I have a driver that does not install. I have sat through the installation process for the "Management Engine Interface" (or Intel MEI, I believe) twice already, but every time I open the disc back up it is still listed as "Not installed".

I do not know why this is happening. No errors are ever brought to my attention and Windows Update offers no substitute. However I believe the lack of this driver is causing a problem for my PCI Input Device and possibly causing my HDD to be unlisted in This PC.

Can someone please help me resolve this issue? I haven't been able to identify the driver online or the issue/s with it myself.

Solution
After a long battle with CCL Computers Ltd's customer service, I finally got their complaints department to refund me and got the right board from Amazon. CCL really attempted to stitch me up with a board that had bent CPU socket pins, because that voids the warranty mentioned above.

Still I have the right setup now and a fresh installation of Windows. There is no longer a problem with a PCI Input Device in Device Manager, now the sound card is gone; and I got my HDD listed by using the "New Simple Volume Wizard" in Disk Management.

I now however have a surround sound issue which I've taken to a new thread: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-3192561/surround-working-windows.html

I forgot to mention that I did pull the latest driver from the ASUS website (11.0.0.1157).

Even stranger, the installation states that I have a newer version (11.0.5.1189) already installed; whereas the CD (with version 11.0.0.1160) still says I have no version installed, and it recognises that my audio driver is more up to date than its own.

I've read that not having the driver installed could be an issue for a PCI device, and my PCI Input Device is remarked in Device Manager. I can only assume that this is a result of the Intel MEI or the Sound Blaster Audigy (SB1394) drivers I can't get. I fear I can't see my HDD because of this too.

Well, what PCI device are you have trouble accessing?
Are you sure there are Windows 10 drivers for your Sound Blaster card?
Your HDD has nothing to do with PCI devices unless it's an m.2 SSD.

You should always avoid the motherboard CDs they're always out of date.

Grab the Drivers from ASUS's website for your mobo model.

You'd think wouldn't you; but there are newer versions of the drivers and utilities on the disc, than there are on the website.

However if there are drivers for this sound card, I can't find them; and I honestly hope to have resolved the hard drive issue now (I'll need to finish formatting 2TB to find out). Until then I got nothing else I'm trying to access, I just want my computer to be fully functional.

Did you install an ASUS utility called HomeCloud?
https://www.asus.com/us/support/FAQ/1013129/

Also, are you Audio professional? Why do you have a Soundblaster card?

If you really want to fix this, I'd say, do a clean reinstall of windows, and then only get the drivers you absolutely need, don't use any driver downloading/installing programs (they mess stuff up)

So only get the Chipset Driver:
http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/misc/utils/Intel_Chipset_Win7--81-10_V10117.zip?_ga=1.61649452.1634289751.1471276792
The Realtek Audio Driver (your motherboard audio ports):
http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/misc/audio/Realtek_Audio_Win7-81-10_V6017543.zip?_ga=1.61649452.1634289751.1471276792
The Intel Integrated graphics driver (you won't use it but...):
http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/misc/vga/Intel_VGA_Win7-81-10_V2019154377.zip?_ga=1.91725594.1634289751.1471276792
The Lan Driver:
http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/lan/Intel_Lan_Win7-81-V2023001_Win10-V2024001.zip?_ga=1.91725594.1634289751.1471276792

everything else is superfluous and not needed for your computer to function properly.

Restart the computer every time it asks you too (usually after each driver installs)

I'll do you one better. I discovered on the ASUS support pages today that I have been sold the wrong motherboard (I have been given a H170-PRO instead of a H170 PRO GAMING). Once I sort this I'll take the sound card out of the equation and then I'll see if the problem persists.

I have the sound card for my 5.1 speaker set, but I didn't bother with the ASUS cloud.

CCLcomputers, who sold me the wrong motherboard, are claiming that it doesn't work now it is in their possession again and are trying to send it back to me broken. Please advise!

demand they send you a new one because the one they sold you was broken. You should still have ASUS RMA anyways.

When I first got it, and before I sent it back; it worked just fine. The problem was that it is a cheaper product with less features than the one I paid for.

They are now claiming it's damaged and want to send it back; lumping me with not only the wrong item, but a broken one too!

I have contacted Citizens Advice and by extension, trading standards. I also plan to contact the Consumer Obudsman as soon as possible. However what is ASUS RMA?

well if it was a working motherboard would you want it? If the motherboard is broken, CCL can't do anything to it besides replace it, they're just a retailer. Asus makes the motherboard and can fix it or replace it. If CCL sent you the wrong motherboard, they need to send you the right one.
