Recently been having issues with games. GTAV gives me a 107 and 255 error, so I googled the issue and the most common solution was to go into system32 and delete all of your directx files (or all the ones you CAN delete) and then reinstall them. Like an idiot, I followed these instructions with the assumption that Windows would provide a utility in order for me to reinstall them. They don't. The only directx utility they provide are for dx9.0c and older.

Copied all of my dx files from my sysWOW64 file to system32, still can't play any games as they won't even launch.

Does anybody know of a place I could possibly download these files again or maybe a trick with windows to restore these files?

Thanks!

DirectX 11.3 and DirectX 12.0 are included in Windows 10.
Note There is no stand-alone update package for DirectX 11.3 or DirectX 12.0.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/kb/179113

that makes it difficult.

Did you run windows update? they meant to come through there, normally.

Try this:

right click start button
choose command prompt (admin)
type SFC /scannow and press enter

this scans system files and may fix this behaviour

then in same window, copy paste this: (needs to be exact)
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

then rerun sfc /scannow once dism finished
restart PC

what those do is: Sfc checks system files and may reinstall DX. DISM checks the files SFC uses to check the system files. SO if SFC...

If those two don't fix it, I would be surprised. There is always system restore,,, but its fun to get to now as they hiding it.
go settings/update & security/recovery/Advanced start up - click restart pc
this loads blue menu
choose troubleshoot
choose advanced
choose System restore
choose latest date it offers
Win 10 will roll system changes back to the date chosen, and restart

Problem with system restore is sometimes using it can break other things
