New world record OC - Core i7 6950X

I wish world records actually required the chip to be in a usable everyday configuration. Only managing to achieve the record-breaking OC on a single core with HT disabled is not particularly useful when the chip will get beaten in most real-world performance by the much cheaper stock i5-6600/i7-6700.

Mmmmm, also add in the fact that 99.99% of people can't even afford a 6950x to compete, let alone overclock to the extreme!

I wouldn't mind records for chips most people cannot afford if breaking those records didn't require crippling the CPUs to the point that they get beaten by stock CPUs under most real-world workloads.

If the overclock record had to also break a world record in something meaningful like Blender rendering, now that would be more impressive.

Folding, SETI and most other distributed computing projects are data-dependent applications, they wouldn't make for very repeatable benchmarks unless you replayed the same work units every time.
