Hi guys! I don't really know much about displays, except fhe usual resolution stuff like 1080p 1440p and so on. I'm just wondering why my games look worse when switching to 1920x1080 from 1600x900, or even 1360x768. I'm currently using an older tv (Insignia NS-39D310NA15) due to my 1080 monitor dying on me. I'm also currently in the process of building a new ddr4 rig, and currently using an HD 7850 while my Asus ROG RX 480 Strix 8gb is being shipped.

On 1920x1080 reso, the graphics do seem to be sharper, clearer and crisper, but it does seem to be worse than on lower resos, at least to me, that is. Maybe it's just me. I looked up the Insignia tv specs and supposedly it's a 720p tv, that supports 1080p. Could this be the cause? I'm guessing I'm not really playing on 1080p, and instead the graphics/resolution is just being upscaled to 1080p? Or is it my gpu? It;s not only on games, even when I switch my desktop resolution to 1920x1080 it gets worse, like, I'm not seeing the whole windows/screens, or the toolbar is sorta misplaced or something. Could I do anything to solve this problem? Or do I need to buy a real 1080p or 1440p monitor, specially with the rx 480 coming. Well I am planning to get a new monitor, just not right now as I opted to get a new gpu first.

I'd provide screenshots, but I'm not at home at the moment.

Thanks!

Yes the 1080/720 issue is the cause. the tv is just skipping pixels to make 1080 fit onto its 720 panel. My advice is to set the pc to 720 until you get a new display/system.
