There are ZERO g-sync 2K monitors with the standard DCI 2K resolution. There are however plenty of 1080p or 2560x1440 (and some 3440x1440) monitors. Well when you put 2k in the title I assumed you meant 1080p, which is commonly referred to as "2k" or full HD. Here is the list of 1440p ones though:

You get what you pay for. There are (only slightly, still >$500) cheaper monitors, but g-sync is just not a cheap thing to invest in

It's certainly a well balanced setup. Don't think you need to worry about 144Hz unless you start dropping settings though

Thats fine, im hoping as long as i can stay around 80-90 fps id be happy

you will get 100+ FPS in plenty of games. 1440p/Gsync/GTX1070 is a perfect combo.
The ASUS is quite expensive but I don't regret getting it, was more excited about that than getting my 1070.
