VGA connected to Mobo and HDMI connected to GPU

Hey guys i have 2 monitors. One has hdmi connection while the other one which is a little more older has vga connection. My graphics card is an Gigabyte GTX 960 Windforce (the 3 fans version). I wanted to know if its possibe to connect the vga to the mobo while the main screen is connected to the gpu, so i can have a double display setup.

I wouldn't even bother with trying to set that up. Just pick up a DVI to VGA adapter for a couple of bucks and plug the second monitor directly in to your video card. I'm honestly surprised your video card didn't come with an adapter.

yeah, thats why i thought. And yes im equally suprised they didnt include the adapter. If im not mistaken only the msi's ones include the adaprter. But thanks anyway

Damn shame what video cards cost now, you'd think they'd throw in an adapter. Yeah just hit up your online retailer of choice and pick up a basic DVI to VGA adapter and you're problems are solved in a much easier manner.

Most graphic cards do not include a DVI-I output (for analog) any more and only carry a DVI-D output. This is why a DVI to VGA adapter is no longer included as it would not work anyway.

What you will need to do is enter your system BIOS and check to see if there is a way to enable your on-board graphics while a discrete graphics card is installed.

If you look at his card, it has both DVI-I and DVI-D.

Yup. A simple DVI-I to VGA adapter will resolve the issue.
