Trying to fix sound for hdmi

I have a sony bravia tv I hooked up the dvd through the hdmi port and can't get any sound but picture works great

what operating system are you using?

check your default audio device in sound settings. it should be hdmi or your tv (whichever shows up).

if not, i would reinstall your video and audio drivers (doing a full removal with driver removal software) then test.

also of note if you're using a video card or your motherboard. i've seen issues when using motherboard output solved by a cheap $20-25 video card.
