is it safe to use thumbscrews instead of the normal screws?

i am curious can i use thumbscrews to hold a motherboard in the case instead of the regular screws would it damage the motherboard or any part of it?

I would not as a rule. Unless the screws have very small diameter heads, they could short something.
Why do you want to?
My suggestion is to buy a #2 magnetic tip Philips screwdriver.

have done it before though the ones i used had a narrow neck before the head of them if you get what i mean

so the part making contact wasnt any wider than the original screw heads would have been

and only tried it because couldnt find where i had put the proper screws

wouldnt really recommend it if you have the right screws handy but didnt cause me any issue either

Exactly the reason to use a magnetic tip screwdriver.

as said already a magnetic screwdriver usually solves that

but as i said its doable but not really recommended

so your choice magnetic screwdriver or try thumbscrews but if it causes problem did say not really recommended to do it

no they wont its not like you are going to poke the board with it

never broke a motherboard yet using one and talking a lot of motherboards
