acer cpu upgrade

question is what is the biggest cpu a acer veriton 3900 pro desktop will take. as I have been told that they will take a Q6600 is this true or not ?

From the research I did, it looks like you can put a core 2 duo e6700.

Normally you can put better one e in there.

My motherboard said a max CPU of an e7400 but it worked with a e8400.
