Greetings,

Been meaning to build a PC for the past 1-2 years and will finally be able to afford it in the near future! Here are the appropriate details as per the template:

Approximate Purchase Date: Within next 2-4 months
Budget Range: $1200 - $1500 CAD including taxes
System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming, programming, browsing
Are you buying a monitor: No, already purchased ASUS MX279H
Parts to Upgrade: N/A
Do you need to buy OS: Yes
Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Any Canadian retailer
Location: Ontario, Canada
Parts Preferences: Preferably an Intel CPU and EVGA video card
Overclocking: Maybe, not required, but could be an option
SLI or Crossfire: No
Your Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080, 1920x1200
Additional Comments:

  • - Am of the female build and stature so a mouse that can accommodate
    - Do not necessarily require additional storage aside from the hard drive
    - Overclocking not a requirement, but could be an option
As far as the build, I've posted my personal build on another forum and was recommended the following:

CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-U12S 55.0 CFM CPU Cooler ($79.95 @ Amazon Canada)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z170-HD3 ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($139.95 @ Vuugo)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR4-2800 Memory ($44.99 @ Newegg Canada)

Any advice on whether this is reasonable for the budget given ($1200-1500 CAD including taxes) would be greatly appreciated.

For anyone interested in what I had originally built for myself, feel free to let me know!

Frankly, I believe you are overspending in areas, that will not help gaming performance. This would be a far better gaming machine, as the graphics card is far superior. You must have had mail in rebates turned on, because I put yours together, and came up with a higher price.
