Monitor reads no signal

I got a new motherboard and a new cpu for an already completed build to upgrade. It was the M5A78L-M/USB3 motherboard by AMD and the AMD FX-8350 Black Edition Vishera 8-Core 4.0 GHz for my processor. On Pcpartpicker.com the build I currently have shouldn't have any problems running, but when everything is put in and plugged in correctly, everything turns on. The motherboard has a greenlight showing that it is indeed powered. I have tried plugging my monitor into both the motherboard and my gpu but all it does is power up for a second(showing nothing) only giving me my monitor's light showing that it is on then shows me NO SIGNAL. Please help.

try the monitor on another computer to make certain it works ok. take the videocard out of the motherboard slot & see if the onboard works ok.
