Hello,

Currently I'm gaming on a DELL U2414H which is a great monitor but lately I find I mainly play TF2 and the 60Hz hinders me.

I was eyeing the ASUS MG279Q since my graphic card is R9 390 but I'm withholding for two reasons. One, I'm afraid my card would not be able to hold decent frame rates on 1440p on AAA titles which I do still play from time to time. The second is, I read so many bad customer reports about backlight bleeding, grease patches, eyelashes and dead pixels that I was deterred. Even my local vendor advised me to refrain and said he was getting a lot of complaints. He offered me another screen but it was TN and I did not want to give up on the nice colors of the IPS.

My questions are- is there a good monitor with IPS, 1-5 ms, 24-27" and 144Hz? Is freesync worth it? Or Should I get G-sync and in my next upgrade go with Nvidia? Is there an upcoming monitor that is worth the wait? How will my card fare at 1440p? Are there really no 1080p IPS 144Hz monitors?

nah, it all about preferences..

24" 1080p MG248Q
27" 1440p MG248/9Q TN/IPS

I was running my PG279Q with a GTX660 for a couple of weeks on medium settings at 1440p with pretty good FPS, 120FPS on Overwatch. just not all the bells and whistles.
then i got my 1070 and everything was just clearer and shiny.

some people don't care much for every visual detail, some people do.
