Asus Gl502vy laptop to Asus Vg248qe monitor @ 144hz

So I've been getting conflicting messages on the capabilities of HDMI 2.0 on high refresh rates, some say it supports high refresh rates and some people say it is limited to 60 hz. I have a DVI cable that I used on my desktop to reach 144hz but my laptop (Asus Gl502vy) only has an hdmi port. I am currently using an hdmi 2.0 but cannot raise the refresh rate of the Vg248qe to over 60 hz. So my question is, Is there any way to increase the refresh rate of my monitor to 144hz? Can I use an DVI or Display Port adapter to HDMI to achieve this?

I dont think that laptop has hdmi2. Actually, I dont think the monitor does either...
