Will there be a noticeable difference between 120 hertz and 144 hertz?

I'm currently running a 60 hertz 1080p monitor, but I'm shopping for a new one. Since I'm a heavy gamer, is a 144 hertz worth the extra cash or am I better off with the 120 hertz?

First is to check if your rig can push 120 or 144 fps on the games you play.

On first person shooter's, yes there's a noticeable difference

Forget gaming, even before you play any game, at the desktop you'd certainly notice your mouse movements would seems much smoother response as FPS goes higher.

In the same sense, gaming would behave in line to that. Granted you have what it takes to pull it off.

For which to choose, I'd say depends on budget.

Caution: Most GPUs (I think pre-900 series) cannot handle 144hz. You will be limited to 120hz even with a 144hz monitor.

That aside, honestly, I cannot notice the difference between 120hz and 144hz on my monitor (or even 165hz) on my asus pg279q.

But going from 60hz to anothing over 100hz will be a very noticeable difference.
