To upgrade to 1440p or just buy a 1080p 144hz monitor?

CPU:i7-6700k
GPU:GTX 1080 or RX 480(RX 490 when it comes out and if it's good)


I still have 9 months of savings till I can buy all of the components.

Has anyone tried upgrading from 1080p to 1440p, how was it?

I currently have a 1080p 60hz monitor which I'm gonna upgrade when the times comes and I want to know if 144hz 1440p is any good or should I just buy a high quality 1080p 144hz monitor?

If you are on GTX1080 (or perhaps RX490), 1440p 144Hz is the way to go.
You will not want to go back to 1080p.

If you are on RX480, stay with 1080p 144Hz.
