I am looking for a the best possible gaming monitor with a budget of £200

the last vga one i got didn't seem to work so i would prefer a hdmi one

Yeah okay, a 144Hz monitor seems perfect for you.
Just so you know, you won't be able to use the 144hz refresh rate with a HDMI cable, you'll have to use DVI-D or Displayport.

Nah, neither is better as both have enough bandwidth to fully utilize the monitor.
Does your graphics card have either on it?

this is a HDMI monitor, just 75Hz.

I didn't know OP could go over 200bpd. There are a lot more options at a higher price bracket.

Frank, 75Hz isn't much different to 60Hz, it's only at around 100 that you start to notice a significant difference.

OP has a R9 390X. that is 1080p gaming at 60Hz.
75Hz + Freesync will be nice with that card. you won't get a decent monitor with 144Hz at that price range.

Freesync will be fine, but the VG248QE is SIGNIFICANTLY better than any 75Hz 1080p Freesync monitor on the market at the moment.
It is a world of difference going from 60Hz to 144Hz, 75Hz is just sort of meh, and not noticeable unless you really try hard to tell them apart.

of course there is a world of difference with 144, same as going from TN to IPS. but that adds even more money. there is always something better. but for that price range...
the only game he might run at 144Hz is CS:GO lol what an investment!
