Your monitor has a USB port on the side? Yes.
That cable goes from the PC to the monitor. You use the port(s) on the side of the monitor for other things.

ok. thank you for the answer. will need to get a adapter if my motherboard doesnt include a displayport connection.

another quick question.
i dont see anything that looks like this cable in my motherboard images.
https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Z170-PRO-GAMING/
this means i wont be able to use the 3.0 usb in the monitor?

The small flat rectangular end (on the left in your pic) plugs into your case.
The larger, more square one (the other one), plugs into the monitor.

ok. i must apologize for how stupid my question was. completly forgot that what was going to connect to PC was the usb 3.0 and for a moment i panicked a bit looking for the other end in the motherboard.
