Basically, I want to use my external monitor while my laptop lid is closed, I have changed all settings possible to ensure that I will be able to use my computer on my monitor while the laptop is closed. However, after 10-15 mins after I close the laptop lid, my laptop sleeps/hibernates (not too sure) and the monitor goes off, even with the settings changed to not doing anything when the laptop lid is closed.

Model: ASUS X550JX (Windows 10)

make sure you change the settings for on battery as well as on power, also make sure the power plan is set to high performance. If you click on change plan settings, there is another option to put computer to sleep, make sure this is also never for "on power" if you run on battery, you can also set it to never, but you need to watch the battery because on high performance it will drain a bit quicker than normal.

No unknown or question marked devices in device manager, screensaver is off, no leds blinking. When i open it again, it is just a black screen.

ATK driver and utility installed?
power4 gear installed or ASUS power managment utility in use? try changing settings with this.

update BIOS to version 204 in BIOS itself. extract the Bios file to an empty usb flash drive and restart the PC, enter BIOS by pressing the "F2" key while the ASUS logo is showing. select easy flash and choose the BIOS file copied to the drive
