any way to restore windows 10 license after accidental reset?

I have someone who thought by resetting their pc to factory defaults, they would still have windows 10 on their dell tablet/laptop. The problem is, when the computer finished resetting, they were reverted back to windows 8. Is the license still valid if I reinstall Windows 10?

Yes. Skip the key when installing Windows 10 and it will activate automatically.

They may want to fresh install win 10 at some stage to remove the chance of rolling back to 8 again.

when they upgraded to win 10 they got a digital entitlement to always reinstall win 10 on that PC again.

Should be fine. If this person wants to avoid this in the future you could try disk imaging (i.e. Macrium Reflect Free) or a snapshot tool (i.e. RollBack Rx) so that you retain the key while restoring to an earlier state.

Skipping activation it should automatically activate itself. If this is an OEM Windows that came with your device, then use a program called Produkey to find the key embedded into your bios which will activate your windows. Alternatively, if you linked your microsoft account to the pc, it might also activate with your account but I'm not sure if this is the case with OEM Windows.
